Berkshire Eagle SOCIAL Saturday, July 16, 1988 Shaker Village schedules 'World's Peoples' Dinners' PITTSFIELD Hanco*ck Shaker Village will sponsor "World's Peoples' Dinners from July 29 to Aug. 7, from Aug. 26 to 28 and Oct. 14 to 16 in the brick dwelling. Shakers were known for their hospitality among the "World's Peoples" (inhabitants of the world outside of the Shaker community).

"The tradition of sharing wholesome, bounteous meals with the community is continued at Hanco*ck with the 'World's Peoples' 19 Bea Snyder, the village's director of marketing and public relations, said today. Recipes for these dinners are taken from "The Best of Shaker Cooking" by Amy Bess Miller and Persis Fuller. Mrs. Miller is president of the village. Dori DeMarco is fiancee of Timothy Rivers SHELTON, Conn.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank DeMarco of Shelton announce the engagement of their daughter, Dori Marie, to Timothy David Rivers of Houston, Texas. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Richard Rivers of 22 Club Circle, Pittsfield, Mass. The couple are planning a Sept. 17 wedding in Shelton. Miss DeMarco graduated from Shelton High School and Connecticut Business Institute. She is an administrative assistant at in Shelton.

Campus notes Brian C. Dubis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald F. Dubis of 2 Mountain View Drive, Adams, has been named a recipient of the outstanding undergraduate scholar award at Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology.

He is a fifth-year student in electrical engineering. The award recognizes RIT students who have maintained a 3.85 grade point average for all college work and have completed two-thirds of the credit hours required for a bachelor's degree. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Bruce of Keene, N.Y., and Lantana, Fla. The wedding took place in the Second Congregational Church of South Williamstown, where the Rev. Betty Lou Ure and the Rev.

Mark Fowler officiated. Mrs. MacGillivray and Mr. Bruce attended the couple. Katelyn Ryan was flower girl, and Douglas Kinchley was ring bearer.

Miss Whitney Bruce, the bridegroom's daughter, and Thomas Heimann were acolytes. Miss Marilyn Bruce, another daughter of the bridegroom, and Donald T. MacGillivray III, the bride's brother, ushered. The bride graduated from Mount Greylock Regional High School and from the University of Maine at Farmington. A dietitian, she has been employed at hospitals in the Boston area.

Mr. Bruce is employed by Coleman Research Corp. of Orlando, as manager of its field office in Munich, West Germany. He retired from the Army as a chief warrant officer after 20 years' service as a guided missile expert. He graduated from Woodbridge (N.J.) High School and received a bachelor's degree in science and business management from Western New England College, Springfield.

The couple will live in Munich after a trip through Belgium and the Netherlands. Placing first in the 6:30 p.m. beginner class was an Australian shepherd owned by Jodi Salvatore, Lenox; second went to "Odie," a Brittany cross owned by Ms. Starlene Lang, 82 Hawthorne and third, "Filo," a Pomeranian owned by Ms. Michelle Jodoin, 5 Doreen St. Most improved ribbons were awarded to "Nikki" and to "Alf," a mix breed owned by John Barwick, 41 Burbank St.

In the 7:30 beginner class, first went to "Abu," a standard poodle owned by Mrs. Cheryl Campoli, Yokun Road; second, "Norman," a Labrador mix owned by Ms. Virginia Sakal, Stockbridge; third, a black Labrador owned by Ms. Laura Young, 142 Dawes Ave. "Norman" received the most-improved ribbon.

In the competition for dogs handied by obedience instructors, first was "Chu Chu," a Pomeranian owned by Ms. Lee Choiniere, 12 Hamlin and second, "Barnaby," a St.

Bernard owned by Mrs. Frances Bancroft, Dalton. Mrs. Carol Lawrence of the Great Barrington Kennel Club judged the event. Mrs.

Bancroft, assisted by Ms. Choiniere, was instructor for the 6:30 beginner class. Mrs. Marjorie LaVigne, the club's training director, instructed the 7:30 beginner class and 8:30 advance classes. She was assisted by Ms.

Choiniere. New evening classes begin July 11 at Ponterril. Registration may be made by calling Mrs. LaVigne of 101 Furnace Hill, Cheshire. Eric Ostermann, son of Mr.

and Mrs. John Ostermann of 74 Bellmore Drive, recently received the American Legion Award for Scholastic Excellence for 1988 during an ROTC Award Ceremony at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. The award recognizes students who are in the upper percent of their ROTC classes and in the upper 10 percent of their scholastic classes. Mr. Ostermann, who is enrolled in the school of management, will enter his senior year in the fall.
