As part of the Scouting and Game Analysis Specialization with MBP SCHOOL OF COACHES, I had reflected on a total analysis of FC Barcelona offensive phase. I consider that the main differences between Barca's 21/22 and 22/23 seasons in the offensive phase were given by three key signings: Robert Lewandoski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde. 🇵🇱 Lewandoski, unlike Depay or Luuk de Jong is a versatile striker, who can fix the central defenders, win aerial duels, and contribute to the short associations on the side and central lanes, creating numerical superiorities, helping the ball progression.🇧🇷 Raphinha, as a winger, offers the possibility of having a left-footed player playing on the right wing to fix the full-backs, give the team width, and be a key man in building and finishing the play from inside or outside. He is a double threat to the defenders!🇫🇷 Finally, Kounde is a center back who is a guarantee defensively and offensively as well. In the absence of a natural fullback, Kounde has become a centerback that can advance the ball with fluidity, but also give balance and compensate the team by making a line of three in Barca's offensive phase with the other two centerbacks. 🏆 These additions have given a leap of quality to the team in offensive phase, and have allowed a better use of the attacking structures (3-2-3-2 ; 3-2-2-3) proposed by Xavi in the season 21/22.

Is the lack of promotion and relegation in Mexico’s top football division an apt metaphor for the country’s approach to competition and business? Every year in England (three teams), Spain (three teams), France (two to three), Germany (two to three), Brazil (four teams) and so on in most of the rest of the world are promoted to the top football league, and the corresponding number relegated. In Mexico, there is no promotion/relegation – La Liga MX in its wisdom in 2020 decided that the eighteen current teams would stay unchanged in the top league for at least another six years. Ostensibly this was promote stability and encourage investment post COVID but more likely was a cosy backroom deal to protect the incumbents. The lack of competition clearly has not helped the country’s national team, which got kicked out of this year’s World Cup in the first stage. Nor does it make for exciting viewing – who can forget last week’s playoff for Premier League promotion and the corresponding $200mn of revenues between Luton and Coventry at Wembley, with Luton making it to top division just nine years after playing in the fifth tier Conference."The best of all monopoly profits is a quiet life," the British economist Sir John Hicks once wrote.Maybe it's time for La Liga MX to rethink? https://lnkd.in/g7pHGxGm

I love this. Leadership is understanding your team and helping them get every ounce of their talent onto the pitch. Strong emotional connection and trust allows you to nurture and develop self belief. The response from the player will have meant the world to the coach. #team #leadership #talent
