Job Description:
The Blue Cross Blue Shield Center for Rural Behavioral Health hasbeen established within the College of Allied Health and Nursing atMinnesota State University, Mankato. The Center is dedicated toimproving access to behavioral healthcare for residents of outstateMinnesota to include Tribal Communities, through research,workforce development, continuing education and customizedtraining. The Center is supported by the College of Allied Healthand Nursing, generous donations from vested industry partners,grants, and with a onetime state appropriation through theDepartment of Human Services to establish a community behavioralhealth center and training clinic. The clinic will be acollaborative effort across academic programs in social work,counseling and student personnel, alcohol and drug studies,psychology, and nursing where student clinicians work under thesupervisions of experienced faculty and clinicians. Clinicalservices will include comprehensive, culturally relevant,trauma-informed, practice- and evidence-based, person- andfamily-centered mental health and substance use disorder treatmentservices in Blue Earth County and to residents of the surroundingregion. The clinic is under development and slated to open Fall2024. The position will direct the overall mission of the Centeracross research, education workforce development, and clinicalservices.

  • The position will be approximately 50-75% Center Director and25-50% teaching assignment.

  • A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up totwenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.

  • The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas asassigned and qualified.

  • May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid,and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or atthe university's additional locations, as assigned.

  • The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues incurriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct researchproductively and mentor students in research, help createinnovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, andcompletion, and may be expected to develop external grant fundingopportunities.

  • All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly orcreative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study,in contributing to student growth and development, and in providingservice to the university and community (See Article 22 andAppendix G of the IFO Master Agreement).

  • Provide vision, direction, and oversight to the Center forRural Behavioral Health in research, education and workforcedevelopment, and clinical services.

  • Engage internal and external university partners to advance themission of the Center and its constituents (region, state andindustry sectors).

  • Launch and coordinate with partners research projects,programs, and outreach initiatives with potential to promote andimprove the mental health of rural communities and greaterMinnesota.

  • Support faculty, students and partners in research, educationand clinical initiatives related to rural mental health.

  • Provide guidance and encouragement for faculty in developingeducation, practice, and research initiatives that align with themission of the Center.

  • Facilitate communication among internal and external partners(faculty across the university, administration, advancementofficers, and other colleges and programs).

  • Guide the creation and implementation of the strategic planswith local, regional, and national foci that aligns with the Centermission.

  • Consult and collaborate with the Center for Rural BehavioralHealth Advisory Board, Steering Committee, and external expertsregarding the Center's operation and direction.

  • Develop external grant funded opportunities to expand clinicalservices, research, and education.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in behavioral health or related field (SocialWork, Counseling, Psychology, etc.).

  • Eligible to practice independently as a mental healthprofessional (e.g., LP, LICSW, LADC, LMFT, LPCC, DNP, MD) orability to obtain licensure within Minnesota.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in practicing in the mentalhealth or public health sector.

  • Demonstrated record of budget management, grant writing andgrant management.

  • Demonstrated record of interprofessional collaborations inclinical practice or scholarship.

  • Demonstrated commitment to or engagement with ruralcommunities.

  • Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply anequity lens to this position including social justice and/oranti-racism.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working andlearning environment.

  • Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/orpresentation skills.

  • Doctorate in behavioral health or related field (Conferred onan official transcript at the time of application.)

  • Board-approved clinical supervisor status for one or morelicensure boards or eligibility for approval and two or more yearsof experience in providing clinical supervision.
  • Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduatelevel.

Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to,participating and completing all required safety trainings, as wellas performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota StateUniversity, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriatetools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
